BIG Difference BC Scholarship
UBC’s Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights
UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies is proud to collaborate with BIG Difference BC to award scholarships to support the development and growth of the local Behavioural Insights community of practice.
The BIG Difference BC scholarship is a $4,000 award for one student each year in the Advanced Professional Certificate in Behavioural Insights. The awarded student will be publicly recognized at the annual BIG Difference BC conference.
BIG Difference BC strives to be a diverse community that welcomes and values individuals representing different genders, sexual orientations, races, socioeconomic statuses, experiences, and perspectives. This includes identifying and addressing barriers and imbalances that prevent equal participation and benefits. To meet these goals, priority for the BIG Difference BC scholarship will be given to applicants who identify as IBPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or persons with disability.

Student Loans
Our courses and programs are not eligible for BC or Canada Student Loans.
Tuition Tax Receipts
UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies courses and programs except for GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, CSM and PMP preparation courses qualify for non-refundable tax credits and education amounts. If you are eligible for a T2202 Tuition and Education Certificate, you will be notified by email in late February with instructions on how to obtain your tax receipt. Canada Revenue Agency requires your SIN to be included on the tuition tax receipt. Please ensure your SIN has been added to your student profile.
Registration
We offer applied courses leading to certificates and industry-recognized credentials, but which do not apply to UBC degree-credit programs. Many of our courses are open enrolment, meaning all you need to do is create an account and register.
You must be able to speak, comprehend, and write fluently in English to ensure success in your chosen courses and programs. As a result, you may be required to submit official English Language test results as follows:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no individual score less than 6.0
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) overall score: 90 with a minimum score of 22 in reading and listening, 21 in writing and speaking

All registration is completed online.
Courses
- Find the course you are interested in using Course Search or by browsing our website.
- Choose the preferred course section. You will be directed to the course page that provides the registration details.
- Select the “Add to Cart” button. A pop-up window will advise you that the item has been successfully added to the shopping cart. You can “Continue Browsing” the website and add more courses to your shopping cart or “Checkout”.
- At Checkout you will be directed to “LogIn” or “Create an Account”. Follow instructions to complete your purchase.
Certificate Programs
You are required to complete an online application for The Behavioural Insights certificate program. The creation of a profile is not required to submit your application. Successful applicants will be given registration instructions at time of acceptance.
Participants in the Project Management Bootcamp program are expected to have a minimum of three years’ work experience, preferably in a management role. You may be asked to provide information with regard to previous work experience prior to registration.
You can register for all other certificate programs on a course-by-course basis and complete the program at your convenience within 2 years from the start date of your first course. You are welcome to enrol in more than one certificate at a time.

UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies offers 3 different delivery styles to fit your learning needs. Some courses are taught in multiple delivery styles while others are delivered in one only.

Technology Requirements
A PC or Mac computer or tablet installed with a reliable internet connection and an up-to-date browser is required for all courses. For Live Online courses, it is beneficial to have a microphone and webcam, but you can participate using the chat feature if that’s all you have. You need to ensure your microphone and camera permissions are set to allow access to the online learning management platforms.
How to get started with Online Learning
If you are enrolled in any type of online course, a welcome email with instructions on how to access the online Learning Management System (Moodle) will be sent to all registered students by 4pm PST on the course's start date. All your course information including course outlines, curriculum, and detailed assessment schedule will be found in Moodle. The first time you log in you will be asked to create a new password, using the password reset feature. UBC will never ask you for this password.
Course Cancellations
If UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies cancels courses due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be processed by the original payment method.
Course Transfers
If you would like to transfer from one course to another or change course sections, you must send an email to cbstudies@sauder.ubc.ca at least 3 business days before the course begins. Refunds are issued net of $50 fee per transaction. No refund are issued for requests made within three days of the course start date.
Course & Bootcamp Withdrawals
If you would like to withdraw from a course or program (*some exceptions apply), you must send an email to cbstudies@sauder.ubc.ca at least 3 business days before a course or 10 business days before a bootcamp. Refunds will be issued net of $50 fee for courses, and $100 fee for bootcamps, per transaction of a transfer or withdrawal. No refund will be issued for requests made within 3 business days for courses or 10 business days for bootcamp start dates. You are considered registered in the course/bootcamp even if you are no longer attending classes.
*Project Management Bootcamp Program Withdrawal
Project Management Bootcamp requires a deposit at time of registration that is non-refundable should you wish to withdraw prior to or during the program.
**Note: If you are using FSG funds, 10 business days notice is required for transfers or withdrawals.
Academic Accommodations

Certificate Completion
Graduation
To be granted your UBC credential you must successfully complete required coursework and demonstrate competency in the program area by earning a minimum passing grade of 60% (68% for Behavioural Insights) in each course or “Pass” on courses that are graded as “Pass/Fail”. Upon satisfactory completion of the program requirements please complete and submit the Graduation Request to receive your official UBC credential and final transcript. Your credential and an official transcript will be mailed to you within three months of submitting your graduation request.
Program Completion
All certificate courses must be successfully completed within 2 years from the start date of your first course.
Program Extension
Certificate programs must be successfully completed within 2 years from the time you commenced the program. Should you require additional time to meet your program requirements, please send an email outlining your program start date, expected program completion date, and your reason for an extension.
Grades and Transcripts
Assessment is based on participation, tests, assignments, and projects. 60%/C must be achieved in order to pass most courses or programs.

Academic Appeals
Students are to first address concerns with the CBS instructor or online instructor. Appeals not resolved at this level are to be referred to the CBS program leader for review. Should the appeal remain unresolved, the student may submit the issue to the UBC Sauder CBS Appeals Committee for review. The student is responsible for submitting any relevant supporting documents electronically to cbstudies@sauder.ubc.ca for review of their case. The CBS Appeals Committee will meet to consider the matter and a written decision will be issued within 60 days.
Transcripts
Official Transcripts are available within 2-3 business day at a cost of $20 per transcript.
All transcript orders are non-refundable, and cancellations are not permitted. The student or alumnus must order the transcripts themselves using this form and if requested, UBC will send copies directly to other institutions on your behalf.
Digital Credentials
UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies is pleased to offer digital credentials that highlight your educational achievements and competencies that you can electronically share with your employer and colleagues. We offer two types of credentials: “Badges” which identifies specific course competencies achieved and “Certificates” which indicates completion of a program and proficiency in a specific subject area.
UBC has collaborated with Accredible to translate the learning outcomes you have achieved into badges and certificates using secure blockchain technology that is Open Badge compliant.
Benefits of Digital Credentials
- Shareable – Celebrate your achievements by sharing your digital credentials by email and through social media platforms including LinkedIn, Meta and Twitter.
- Verifiable – Provides a quick and convenient way for your employer, potential employers, and peers to confirm your newly acquired skills in real time.
- Secure – The metadata is securely linked to a unique profile and housed on Accredible.
Upon successful completion of any approved UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies courses, you will be issued the applicable badge. Students who also successfully complete a certificate program will be issued a digital certificate.
Student Conduct
Academic Integrity
UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies is committed to academic integrity and takes academic misconduct seriously. Penalties for cheating, plagiarizing or other academic misconduct may include dismissal from the program or course with a failing grade and no refund of tuition.
Professional Conduct
UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies fosters positive learning environments that respect the diversity of individuals and apply standards in keeping with appropriate conduct in professional workplaces. You are expected to adhere to professional standards of behaviour. In particular, the ability to work respectfully in a team environment and with other students, instructors and staff is essential. UBC Sauder Continuing Business Studies reserves the right to require a student to withdraw from a program at any time for unsatisfactory professional conduct. In such cases there will be no refund of tuition.
